Pre-Ordering Denise's 10 Week, 360° Plan

According to Denise's site, if you pre-order her 10 week plan now you'll get a 25% discount.

Screenshot from http://www.deniseaustin.com/

When signing up for the single membership, you can choose to pay all at once or you can pay as you go. If you pay all at once, the price is $111 instead of $149. If you pay as you go, the price is $14.99 a week instead of $19.99 a week.

It would have been nice if the plan lasted a year instead of ten weeks. Maybe it should have been called the 12 Month, 360° Plan.

What Happened To Pre-Ordering Denise's 10 Week, 360° Plan In Mid November?

According to Denise's Frequently Asked Questions page, pre-orders for her 10 Week, 360° Plan were to start in mid November. It is the first of December and no one can pre-order the plan which makes me wonder if Denise is serious about her new program. I hope her 10 Week, 360° Plan will be ready by January 5, 2015.

Denise's 10 Week, 360° Plan

Denise Austin's brand new fitness and weight-loss program will include all new workout videos and hundreds of Denise's TV shows. Denise's 10 Week, 360° Plan begins January 5, 2015, according to Denise's website.

Previously, I mentioned in an earlier blog that I wanted to see Denise do a new workout show online. I'm thrilled to know that not only will her site include new workout videos, but it will also include her TV shows as well. Her website originally stated back in September 2014 that the new program would be coming in December 2014. I guess I'm just going to have to wait until January 5, 2015 for Denise's 10 Week, 360° Plan.

With the 100th anniversary of Jack LaLanne's birth fast approaching, a new documentary on his life is set for release.

(Skip to 4:53 to see Denise Austin)

Jack LaLanne would have turned 100 on Sept. 26, and because he seemed like he could live forever, it's hard to believe he's not around anymore.

With the anniversary of his birth fast approaching, anyone who met or knew or admired Jack LaLanne should no doubt look forward to a new documentary on his life.

The documentary, titled "Anything Is Possible: The Man, the Movement and the Legacy," includes interviews with none other than the love of his life, Elaine LaLanne, their son, Jon, and famous fitness personalities, including Denise Austin, Lou Ferrigno and Gunnar Peterson.

If this trailer doesn't give you chills up and down your spine, then you're probably not alive. Here are just a few of the great lines you can expect to see in the documentary:

"My dad was Superman," Jon LaLanne says. "He really was."

"He had a wonderful sense of humor," Elaine says. "He made me laugh through life."

"Jack gave," Ferrigno says. "He never just said, 'Let me take from you.' He gave to you."

The documentary will be available from Sept. 25-Oct. 10 at www.fusionlifebrands.com/jacklalanne100. For Twitter followers, the hashtag is easy to remember: #JackLaLanne100.

Jack LaLanne may not be with us, but as this film suggests, his legacy will live on forever.

Study: Why We Prefer Breathy Voices Like Denise Austin's

Today's AFP Relaxnews has a story on how people are attracted to certain types of voices than others, according to the University of British Columbia. The article goes on to mention that for women, people are strongly attracted to "breathier" voices than "crackier" voices. Denise Austin was referenced in the story has having a "breathier" voice compared to Kim Kardashian who has a "crackier" voice.
The study notes gender differences are key to vocal attractiveness in addition to regional dialect preference. For women, people are strongly attracted to "breathier" voices, such as those of screen legend Marilyn Monroe or health and fitness icon Denise Austin. This is compared to "creakier" voices, such as those of the Kardashian clan. Breathiness is the result of thinner, "younger" vocal cords, with attraction to breathy voices stemming from cultural fixation with youth and vitality, the researchers say, noting a "creaky" voice may indicate a health issue, such as a cold or a long history of smoking.

Professional writer and actress, Kimberly Rae Miller, blogged about how Denise could have another career doing sex imported film voice overs and/or steamy phone services when she retires. BTW the blog is tagged under "Sexy Voices" and it's the only blog under that tag.
First impression: When she finally hangs up her spandex, Denise Austin needs to consider a second career doing voice overs for steamy imported films, and/or paid phone services. Move over Lauren Bacall. What a voice.

Some people have wondered if Denise Austin is or was a smoker because of her voice. Melisa Wells mentioned in her blog that teaching group fitness can hurt the larynx (aka voice box). The link to the study she referenced was broken so I did a little research and found a study called, "Vocal problems among aerobic instructors and aerobic participants." (Heidel & Torgerson 1993). The book Injury Prevention for Fitness Instructors also references the study on page 87.

If you don't like Denise's voice, her new DVDs have a music only option so you don't have to hear her instructions.

Four Fall Fitness Routines

Today's Hindu article presents four fitness routines to keep you in shape during the fall. Ranging in order from easy to extreme, Power Pilate comes third mentioning Denise Austin's videos on the internet to be great for targeting specific areas on the body and helping customise routines.
Power Pilates

We’ve heard of power yoga — but Power Pilates? It’s a form of exercise that uses the routines and “moves” you learn and practise in your regular Pilates class to improve your posture. The workouts usually range from 50 to 65 minutes and aim at improving strength, muscular endurance and metabolism.

Interested in trying out this form of Pilates? The first option is to ask a Pilates instructor around town if he is familiar with this sort of routine and can teach you a few moves. If that doesn’t work out, then head to the Internet. Denise Austin, an American fitness instructor and famous author/columnist, has some great videos up, that target specific areas of your body, helping you customise your routine to your needs.

You Don't Need A Gym To Impact Your Health

Yesterday's Dallas Morning News Health Blog has an article by family physician Dr. Jane Sadler MD on five things doctors may not tell you that could have a direct effect on your health and/or your pocketbook. The first of five things she mentions is the need to exercise because it can lower the risk of heart disease and cancer. Sadler also writes that you don't have to join a gym and suggests exercise videos like Denise Austin's yoga tapes as being really great for beginners.
1.     You need to exercise. Oh, yes…you do.  I realize you can’t afford a monthly yoga class but Denise Austin has some really great beginner yoga tapes.  While the highly vigorous and physically complex P90X is not recommended for the average couch potato, many other exercise DVD options are available, you do not have to join a gym. If you prefer to walk, then WALK. Refer to my prior blog about lowering your exercise intensity. According to the American Heart Association, exercise can lower the risk for heart disease by up to 40%. There is a similar cancer reduction seen with moderate exercise. I always giggle when I hear patients repetitively tell me they have “just joined a gym” at their annual physical (what a timing coincidence).

Dr. Jane Sadler MD (August 13, 2013). "5 things doctors may not tell you". The Dallas Morning News. Retrieved August 14, 2013.
The New York Times ran a story earlier this month on how internet workout videos are giving people who are fitness-minded an alternative to gym memberships. The story goes on to mention that there is a growing popularity of fitness videos on YouTube, according to Kate Mason the YouTube spokeswoman.
YouTube, which is owned by Google, does not track the number of people viewing fitness channels, according to Kate Mason, a company spokeswoman. But she described it as “an incredibly popular segment” that appears to be growing. Between January 2008 and January of this year, the number of times “fitness” was used as a search term on YouTube doubled.

YouTubers are great fans of Denise Austin workout videos, and it's not only for the fitness benefits. Check out Dave McKenna's article on Denise's popularity on YouTube.

Denise Austin Deletes Facebook Post

On Sunday, July 14, 2013 Denise Austin posted a Facebook status update that attracted a lot of negative comments. Her post read "Life is too short to waste time harboring bad feelings about anyone. #‎Forgive, forget, then move on!" which appeared on the day people were protesting the shooting of Trayvon Martin and the George Zimmerman verdict. Whether Denise was referring to them or not is unknown. She has posted similar updates before so this may have been just a general statement. Her status update was deleted today somewhere between 11:26 AM PST and 10:37 PM PST. Here are several screenshots I took of Denise's status update along with the comments:
