LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)
— Fitness guru Denise Austin and her 21-year-old daughter Katie
visited KCAL9 Studios Saturday morning to talk about Katie’s new book
that offers teens tips for a healthy lifestyle and personal empowerment.
“Love
Your Body Love Your Life” is available as an e-book. The “First Family
of Fitness” also shared a workout to get in shape for summer.
Denise Austin pulled the moves from her 10-week 360° Plan.
Get
ready for Denise Austin’s 10-Week, 360° Plan and do a 360 with your
body. Denise is our fitness expert and friend for life, and today she’s
here to help us “keep it simple”—fitness, that is. Fitness icon Denise Austin
really does want us to look and feel great, and in my latest Mind Your
Body TV video, she shows us how to work out in just “four feet of
space.” It feels like the timing is just right, since May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.
“Blast
fat, tone up and shape up,” suggests Denise, who at 58 is a proponent
of the “no excuses” theory of self-improvement. “You don’t always need a
gym with all that equipment to move your body and get healthier,” she
says.
Watch how she gets us moving with an energetic
walk-in-place, helps us tone our upper arms—so important when we’re
wearing those sleeveless sheath dresses. She helps us flatten our
tummies just by “thinking about it” for a few seconds: Easy does it. Now
move on to a long-term plan for success…
Count to 10 weeks
Also
new: With more than 30 years of experience getting people into shape,
Denise has developed her 10-Week, 360° Plan to transform bodies and
attitudes. Her documentation shows that most people lose almost 25
pounds on the plan.
With her “Deniseology,” we won’t get bored
with working out or eating, as she changes it all up regularly. Denise
is here to guide and motivate every step of the way, with three workout
levels based upon our current level of fitness. She’s worked with top
nutritionists to offer a variety of eating plans—more than 200
recipes—from heart-healthy to vegetarian. All plans use real food,
versus packaged products or powders, she says, plus we get a weekly
shopping list.
Age is no obstacle
No matter
our age, Denise asks us to incorporate physical activity six days a
week, and leave Sunday as a deserved “day off” to journal and think
about where we’ve been and where we’re going as we change our lifestyle.
We
can access the 360° program online or via DVD. Enjoy access to the
library of her TV shows, where we can do yoga, barre, boot camp and even
a mother-daughter dance workout.
A real plus is the fun-loving,
supportive community doing this with us. After all, life is a journey,
and self-improvement always goes better when someone else is along for
the victorious ride.
“The key is to get off your rear end,” she
says. “Sitting is the worst, so if you just do a half-hour a day
consistently, you’ll be in fantastic shape before you know it.” That’s
comforting, since bathing suit season is here.

My
crew and I had such a fabulous time with Denise, and I’m excited to
share her simple, effective tips in today’s video. Let me know how it
goes for you. You can do it!
